Talanx Executive Board Member Norbert Kox retires

Following the realignment of the Executive Board portfolios at the Talanx Group, Norbert Kox is retiring on 31 May 2010 – when he will have reached the age of 64. Mr. Kox will continue to remain closely associated with the company through his Supervisory Board mandates and his activities in an advisory capacity. Born in the Rhineland, Kox has been a member of the Talanx Executive Board since 2003. Kox has been responsible for the Bancassurance Division of the Hannover-based Group and has increased gross premium income in this division from 300 million euros to the current level of 2.6 billion euros over recent years.
In 1991, Norbert Kox became a Member of the Executive Board of TARGO Insurers (at the time CiV Insurers) and he held the post of Chief Executive Office there from 1995 until 2007. TARGO Insurers ranks as one of the most successful bancassurance cooperations in Germany. From 1998 to 2007, Norbert Kox was also Chief Executive Officer of PB Insurers, partner of Deutsche Postbank AG, which enjoyed a similar successful track record. At the close of 2007, Kox took up the post of Chief Executive Officer at the newly established Proactiv Holding AG which pools the bancassurance activities of the Hannover Group as an intermediate holding company of Talanx AG.
Kox played a leading role in developing the company over a period of almost 20 years. Under his leadership, the bancassurance division developed into a stable segment within the Talanx Group. Its bancassurance strategy and the focus on profitability and partner orientation combined with the strategic expansion of the division on the national stage and in the international arena to make the Proactiv companies a success story and give them a strong platform for the future. “Norbert Kox has succeeded in positioning the Bancassurance Division in its current form to meet the challenges of the future,” comments Herbert K. Concentration on Supervisory Board mandates
Norbert Kox will remain closely associated with the Group through Supervisory Board mandates and advisory activities. He will concentrate on his Supervisory Board mandates at PB Insurers, neue leben Insurers, TARGO Insurers and the newly established joint venture with the RheinLand Group, as well as numerous international companies in the Talanx Group.
Dr. Heinz-Peter Roß will succeed him
On 1 June 2010, Dr. Heinz-Peter Roß (45) – as already announced – will succeed Norbert Kox as Chief Executive Officer of Proactiv Holding AG. Roß has been a Member of the Talanx Board of Management since 1 July 2009 and heads the newly established Retail Germany Division where he is responsible, among others, for the bancassurance companies at Talanx. Roß is also taking over from Kox as Chairman of the Supervisory Boards of PB Insurers, neue leben Insurers and TARGO Insurers.
